14 July 2010 - le quatorze juillet

Le quatorze juillet (July 14, Le Fête Nationale), which is Bastille Day in English, is one of the most important national holidays in France. I know not much about French history, but as far as I know, the day when angry crowd stormed into Bastille prison was the 14th of July in 1789... am I right?

So, every year on this day in France, they do many interesting things, like parades on Champs-Elysées (and you can watch it on TV, if you wake up early enough - well, not really early early, but considering it's a bank holiday, you tend to sleep until late morning, right?) or French president and First Lady (this year, you could see beautiful Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, O couldn't take his eyes off TV screen) waving their hands... Well, but the crème de la crème of Bastille Day is the fireworks (feu d'artifice in French). They say the fireworks in Paris is superb (I've never seen it yet), but most of French cities also do fireworks on July 13 or July 14. The town where we live did beautiful fireworks on July 13 from 10:30PM.

The town was already crowded (at 8:00 PM)
We had dinner at the Italian restaurant in vieille ville,
and the fireworks was beginning when we finished dinner.

We began to run to have a better view.

run!!!

We met G and H in this big crowd!! :D
